Ok, I really need to back up and start at Saturday since I haven’t posted about that yet.

Sat’s story really starts months ago when we noticed that ZJ had a lip (or frenulum) tie.  Basically means that his frenulum (inside of top lip) was connected to his gums very tightly.  I never got the post done (or at least pretty sure I didn’t, can’t find a post about it lol) because I couldn’t get a good picture.  I couldn’t really get his lip up enough to get one.  Technically this (like a tongue tie) can cause nursing problems, but we had none thankfully… so we weren’t really worried about him having it.  It did cause a gap between his front two teeth, but it eventually closed (honestly I miss it… was too cute).  And I had read that it could cause some tooth decay, but there’s mixed info about that. We talked to our pedi and she wasn’t worried either.  She did warn us that they can get busted on their own and if it happens it’d be very… messy.  He’d be ok though. 

That happened on Saturday night.  Poor thing fell off the couch face first. Have I mentioned that he’s all over the place now? Scared me half to death… He is ok.  But yeah there was a lot of blood. It took me a good while to actually get a look in there too. I got him cleaned up pretty quickly but he was so upset I let him nurse for a bit before trying to get a look.  When I did it was obvious that’s what happened… he can actually move his lip up all the way now. Its a little swollen on one side still and he has a blister too, but he’s not complaining about it anymore. Did once or twice yesterday. 

 So Sunday…  Warning most of it is just little things, they just added up. 

We had to get up early since Kalila had her class.  Barely got there in time for her to eat a little before, got her in class and Baba worked on something he had to do and then headed over to get ready for Mass since he was directing the choir that week.  ZJ & I stayed there and finished eating, and waited for Kalila… She came back and finished eating too. I mention it because she made a comment about preferring to eat 4 bites of yogurt that just cracked me up.  

Went to Mass… If I thought Kalila’s new obsession with praying meant behaving for me in there I was completely wrong. Mass ended, visited w/ family a bit and then lunch time…

Went out to eat with Gido.  ZJ told him thankyou (very clearly) for desert. Was too cute! 

Finished there and decided to run to the store… had fun walking around looking at stuff and got ZJ his first pair (well package) of baby boxers. 

We were all tired by that point and decided a nap would be great… Yeah except on the way we remembered that I had the SANP meeting across town in an hour. Turned around and headed over that way…. 

The kids were asleep when we got there, so Baba sat with them for a bit and then took them to eat while I was in the meeting.  This one was on living naturally on a budget, so was particularly interesting  Very glad I got to go. 

Partway through I got a message from Baba… ZJ got away from him and ran his little self up on the play thing at the restaurant… all the way to the top lol.  Kalila had to go get him I’ve been waiting for that one to happen! 

They came back more than ready to go home and we were running over lol. Go figure. By the time we got home we were all exhausted and of course I had a ton to catch up on. Was worth it though..  

Tomorrow’s gonna be another big day too, get to brave the bus w/ the kids again… wish me luck lol. 

ZJ… aye ZJ. Right about when I started this he got down, walked away, and then walked up to me and said “night night”.  He’s talking to Kalila right now, but I have a feeling he’s going to be in bed soon.  Is a little earlier than normal, but if he’s tired I’m def not going to fight it! 

What didn’t go so well was the trip there.  Baba had to work… and they won’t schedule well visit’s on weekends so that leaves me finding a way to get there.  We don’t have a second car yet (and while I hate driving, yesterday reinforced the whole I want it NOW feeling).  That left the bus… Really it wouldn’t have been too bad if I hadn’t made a stupid mistake.

We left at 12:30 and got to our first stop early. That was not a problem of course. ZJ got a little antsy, but between pointing out cars passing by and singing silly songs he stayed put.  Bus came… We got on, we got off… and here’s where the probs happened.  We got off in the right place… but I needed to go to another stop for my next bus and I wasn’t sure which one it was.  I had the number, but misread my paper and thought it’d told me the one we’d stopped at (which was for the first route, not the second).  I made it to the right one, but saw a bus fly by on the opposite side right at the time our bus was supposed to be there. It had the street name we were going to flashing on the front as if it was headed that way too.  I figured we were on the wrong side (because I thought I didn’t have the stop number) and went looking for the other stop. This included crossing the street twice (two diff ways).  Found the stop and it was for a diff route.  Turned around looking for another stop and see my bus fly by again (going the right direction this time). Also had the same street name on it (usually they say which direction of the route they’re going… both on this one say the same thing?).  *sigh*  Headed back over because it was the only stop I knew for that route and I figured I’d call when we got there (number on the sign).  I was starting to lose my patience at this point because I knew we’d be late… and little miss Kalila started mouthing off. Not even kidding she actually said “I know how you feel” with an attitude.

Got back to the stop, made the call… found out I was at the right place and that another bus would be there in about 20 minutes.  It should leave us at our stop at 2:13.  Appointment was at 2.  At least that’s not too late right?  I called the office and let them know what was going on.

Then the bus came just a little late.  It was packed and I swear we hit every stop on the way.  And this is one of the weirdest routes I’ve ever been on (not the worst though… that happened shortly after I moved here).  We finally got there around 2:35.

Thankfully the last stop is right next to the office… and there were hardly any people in the waiting room.  We got in almost immediately.   Weighed and measured… He’s 24 lbs and 33 1/2 inches.  Weight was barely any gain, but we expected that… the whole everyone getting sick thing. I knew he’d lost some at one point.  He’s still above average on height though.

Then we waited… Dr. M didn’t come in until after 3.  Kalila was hyper by that point… although she (Dr. M) commented several times on how well she was doing.  We went over all the normal stuff…  He’s right on track with everything, no worries.  For some reason he was really nervous around her this trip and didn’t want anything to do with her.  Not too out of the ordinary except he flirted with everyone else that day, even on the bus.  Only bad thing (and we saw this coming) is she thinks he has cavities.  Here’s where I’m a little annoyed… she tried to blame that on how often he nurses.  I’m sorry no. It doesn’t do that.  And… Kalila nursed just as often and has perfect teeth.  ZJ, unfortunately, has my families teeth. Its genetic.  It stinks and we’ve been fighting it, but its been obvious since the day they first pushed through. On top of that he does have the lip tie and supposedly that can aggravate it too. Anyways, I do have some ideas I want to try… and looking for a good dentist on top of that.   Another thing that surprised me (not upset, just different than usual for her) is she asked how long we’re planning to breastfeed and acted a little surprised by me saying until he’s done.  She was a lot more laid back w/ Kalila and never brought it up, just asked if she still was until she wasn’t.  Like I said, not upset about it… just odd.

Shots… uggh lol.  She was a little surprised that I remembered that we’d had to adjust his schedule… but it wasn’t an issue at all. I was really nervous about this visit before I remembered that we did though…  Is the one chicken pox is scheduled for and we’re refusing that one and not sure how she’ll handle that.  Still not sure because we had to do PC, so when she gave me the option to choose to do it w/ DTap or CP I chose DTap.  We’ll see how things go at his 2 year with that…  Anyways, shots came and poor thing was not happy. He reacts completely diff than his sister.

By the time that was all done it was almost 3:30 or after 3:30. Something like that…. We had an hour until the bus came so I took us next door to Church’s Chicken lol.  Kids were hungry, I was hungry… It worked… I got some really cute pictures while we were there.

Back to bus stop.  Called to check again and found out we needed to cross a street.  We were at a right stop, but it would take an hour longer that way… not sure why, but oh well.  6 minutes to cross a huge street w/ two kids.  ZJ started slipping out of my hands at one point and Kalila told me that’s why we needed a khanga.   Yes mama was proud lol.

Got on the bus… and the kids fell asleep.  Got to our stop and Baba called saying he was 20 minutes away… so we just waited for him.  The whole thing was draining… and we get to somewhat repeat it next week (fun fun).  No I think the routes are easier for that trip so hopefully it won’t be as bad.

A couple other things before I go.

Added to his visit, have to say my son turned into a parrot yesterday. He said so many new words it wasn’t even funny.  Kalila thought it was the funniest thing ever and kept finding new ones to ask him to say.  Then last night we were doing it again and I asked him to say cow and he said “moooo”.  We all cracked up, he’s never said it before… and its been awhile since we’ve worked on animal sounds so I was a bit surprised.

Kalila.. What was I gonna say about Kalila?  We had more smarting off last night (she told Baba that she didn’t have a happy butt, she had a mad butt lol)… but that wasn’t it.  Oh school!  I called the school yesterday to make sure she’s on the waiting list still and find out about interviews for next year.  If we have to wait until Kinder I know it’ll be ok, but we’re really hoping she’ll get in this next fall.  Anyways, as soon as I called they recognized Kalila’s name and didn’t even have to look lol. She’s on there and they said I’d be hearing from them in a few weeks about setting up the admissions interview.  Mostly excited… part of me is sad that she may be starting school soon lol. But I know she’s going to love it and that it’ll be good for her. Plus I love the school here.

Somewhat connected to that… I know I’ve pretty much gone down to bare bones on this blog.  Family stuff only.  Sorry… If anyone is actually interested in my thoughts on anything else (LOL) you’re just gonna have to wait. I don’t have the time or energy… and I did tech start this blog just to give updates about the family anyway.

Switching sub’s completely. I forgot today was MLK day… Not sure how I forgot, but I did.  Made plans to call the school today since interviews for next year are coming up next month and then it hit me this morning…. They aren’t there, they’re at the MLK March.  So going to do that tomorrow…  As much as part of me isn’t ready for Kalila to be in school, I’m really hoping she gets in for the fall. I know she’ll be ok if we have to wait until Kinder, but still… She’s more than ready & so excited about it.

Took the kids to the mall yesterday to play and ended up having a lot of fun.  First off ZJ cracked us up.  We had to walk by a lingerie store and he looked up in the window and said “mmmmm nummy!”  I know its bad, but still… we couldn’t help but laugh.  Then we got there and of course Kalila goes right up to the big slide.  She went down and then as soon as she hit the bottom we saw little Mr ZJ fly right down after her! I completely was not expecting him to do that. He went several times and had a blast.

Baba’s still enjoying his new job.  Looking into graduation pictures for him. Hopefully I’ll get to share those at some point lol.

Added perk of his new job that I hadn’t thought of… since he’s off weekends again, I get to go to the SANP meetings again.  I’m very much looking forward to that.

And that’s it for a post today… this week… maybe the rest of the month.  Kinda kidding.. We’ll see. I’ll try to get pics up when/if I can.

Baba started his new job yesterday.  Very excited about it still… The kids were a bit upset yesterday when he left before they woke up, but they seem to have adjusted already.  Well… ZJ woke up this morning and saw him off, but still… they did a lot better today.

Got my FlyLady calendar in the mail the other day.  A bit silly, but I’m happy about it.

ZJ decided to help me wash dishes today…  pulled up the chair and just got to work lol.

Kalila decided to help me too… by washing Baba’s socks.  6 of them… full load for 6 socks. I about cried when I saw it lol.  And of course I didn’t catch it until it was almost done.

LOL Kalila just screamed “Help!” from the other room… ZJ was in my lap, looked up and said “Help?”, got down and ran to her.   I love it!

Kalila saw her first sunrise this morning. She looked out the window and said something about seeing rainbow colours in the sky… I looked up, saw what she meant & explained it to her. She was so excited that she told ZJ all about it when he woke up.

And obviously I did not post this last night like I meant too. Oh well.  Lots to do today so I’m off.

And if it will let me… the video I got of Kalila this morning.  She’s been putting herself in her carseat for awhile now & I’m just getting a video.  She has trouble with the one bottom side as you can see (some days more than others), but is doing pretty good.  She even makes sure everything is straight and where it should be. I love it.

Sorry was hoping I’d have some more pictures to share before posting, but I just haven’t had a chance…

Christmas here was pretty good.  Kids got us up early and opened gifts… Baba went to get donuts and Gido came by with his gifts.  Both kids are absolutely in love with the Strawberry Shortcake kitchen he gave Kalila lol.

Spent most of the rest of the day with family at Baba’s aunt’s house.  Kids just over being sick and I started coming down with it… Didn’t feel all that great at that point, but it was still a lot of fun.

Since then… We went to visit Gran & Papa Brian a couple days later.  Kids had a blast there too.  Then Baba and I went out on a date night thanks to the White Elephant gift we got lol.  Spent part of that at the store picking up the last couple thing for the kids w/ their Christmas gift cards… They went w/ Gido for pizza and had a blast. Were both passed out when we got home.

That’s pretty much been it since unless you count Uncle Bud coming by yesterday.  Which Kalila was thrilled about lol.

Anyways, hope everyone has a great New Years!

Baba’s Graduation went really well.

First off we were extremely lucky and a friend stepped in last minute to watch the kids. Very thankful that Tia Sallie was able to do it.  I was right, there was no way the kids would have managed there. We were sitting up in the stands in the very middle of a packed row of people.  I saw several mama’s taking kids out early on too…

Anyways… It was a little bigger than we expected lol.  I thought I was going to have a hard time spotting Baba, but nope… I saw him as soon as he walked in  And the whole thing went a lot faster than I thought it would, esp for that size.

I got some pictures, but I know they’re all going to be crappy.  My camera doesn’t like me anymore. Everything is fuzzy.

I got a video too… also fuzzy but hopefully we can hear his name being called?  LOL

Anyways, it all went well and we had dinner after w/ his parents/stepdad and the kids.  Was nice.  I wish I’d gotten some better pics though!
